Lessons & Coaching

I'd love to work with you on your musical journey!

As a music educator, privately and publicly, I offer personal/group voice lessons utilizing basics of piano, musical notation and vocal tone mapping here in the greater Chicago region.

I serve as instructor for all genres, often serving as a coach prior to auditions, as well as beginning lessons to help the student find their own, and best, voice.

What to Expect in Your Lesson

  • Warm Ups addressing breathing, flexibility, range and tessitura
  • Repertoire work
  • Clear goals agreed upon for your next lesson, and clarity on how to achieve it

External Commitment

Set aside a scheduled time for concentrated practice outside of lessons or coaching.

  • Beginners: 20 min. daily, 5-6 days per week
  • Experienced: 30-40 min. daily, 5-6 days per week

If you are unable to meet the required minimum, perhaps you should rethink your decision to study with me. If steady improvement is not seen due to obvious lack of effort, I reserve the right to let any student go, not wanting to waste your time and mine.

Session Pricing

Testimonials

Here are a few testimonials from former students and colleagues.

Sarah is incredibly caring, musical, and exceedingly intelligent. She has such a vast understanding of the voice and of music in general. When I started with her, I was struggling to sing with a lifted, balanced tone. After merely a few months of work, I already had improved so much technically, but also felt I had gained an intellectual understanding of the vocal mechanics she taught me.Yang-Yang Feng, Yale
I learned how to create musical phrases and how to control my voice better. I realized how much my sound improves if I just listen to myself when I am singing, and I was taught vocal exercises and warm-ups. Most importantly, however, Mrs. Wiggins showed me that there is more to performing a song than singing the right notes.Arjun Tambe, IMSA Class of 2013
Before I met Ms. Wiggins, I was just a girl who liked to sing. After her instruction, I became a more refined singer charged with passion and courage to take the world, and stage, by storm.Dharti Shah, Saint Louis University
Sarah has an incredible work ethic, is a model of both integrity and humility, and is also a lot of fun. Students work hard for her because she works hard to understand and connect with each individual while simultaneously building a cohesive, caring ensemble. Moreover, she has become a respected faculty leader for her abilities to work with students who are gifted vocalists as well as with those who are raw beginners.Dr. Maxwell McGee, IMSA Acting President
